Since Mondays decision by UNESCO to list Preah Vihear temple as a Cambodian 1-monks.jpg World Heritage Site, the Kingdoms nationalist rapture has subsided just enough to allow for more pragmatic thoughts of the pay-off. Senior Cambodian Peoples Party lawmaker Cheam Yeap said July 10 that he expected the listing of the 11th-century Hindu temple, which had long been hotly disputed by Thailand, to result in a major boon for the ruling party in the July 27 general election. "I am at Prey Veng near the Vietnam border right now. We told the voters of the success of Samdech Prime Minister Hun Sen," he told the Post. Yeap said Hun Sen deserved credit for the world bodys decision because he had sent a letter to UNESCO requesting the designation six years ago. "There is no doubt that Samdech Hun Sen is a CPP leader," he boasted. Yeap said Prey Veng residents, particularly farmers, were showing their support for the CPP and were elated and proud of their premier, as was he. "I cried in front of my wife once I heard UNESCO had made a decision on the temple." Khmer-language newspapers this week featured numerous advertisements placed by CPP officials, congratulating Hun Sen, Deputy Prime Minister Sok An and CPP President Chea Sim on the world bodys decision. However, Koul Panha, director of the Committee for Free and Fair Elections, a Cambodian election monitor, questioned any exclusive claim to ownership of the temple victory and discouraged politicization of the site. "I think all political parties can use Preah Vihear as a means of attracting voters, but no one party or group should get the credit alone," he said. "I think Preah Vihear temple is the pride of all Cambodians, as well as the political parties. If only one party makes political gains off of Preah Vihear temple, I am afraid there will be an internal dispute that will lead to different attitudes about the temple." Sam Rainsy Party lawmaker Son Chhay downplayed the ruling partys hand in resolving the dispute with Thailand over ownership of the territory surrounding the temple, which for years had been the most significant obstacle to its listing. "It is the normal obligation of a government to do this. It was not the special job of the CPP," Chhay said. Cambodias tourism sector, on the other hand, is less concerned with political points. Ho Vandy, president of the Cambodian Association of Travel Agents, said on July 8 that 162 tour operators have begun promotion plans for package tours of Cambodias expanding heritage corridor. They will advertise in about 100 countries. Vandy said the proposed package includes stops at Angkor Wat, Koh Ker temple in western Preah Vihear province, Preah Vihear temple, and Wat Phu, another Khmer temple in Laos. But the immediate concern, Vandy said, should be developing Cambodias overland routes to Preah Vihear, which at present are rutted and jarring, making the temple far more accessible from the nearby Thai border. Then restaurants, hotels and shops will follow, he said. Minster of Tourism Thong Khon agreed, saying that there eventually will be four roads leading to the temple and at least one key artery will be completed by next year. "I already sent a letter to the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation to push for the road construction," he said. The first sign of things to come actually preceded UNESCOs decision; in May the newly formed Preah Vihear National Authority, or PVNA, deployed 22 heritage police. Hang Soth, director of the PVNA, a commission under the Council of Ministers, said the heritage police are charged with protecting the site from looting and vandalism. He also said that the Thai border crossing at Preah Vihear will remain closed until Thai nationalist fervor simmers down, a worry he blamed on opposition activists in Bangkok. "We respect our neighbor and the neighboring nation respects us," he said. But in Thailand, bruised nationalism remains unappeased, and the government of Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej is suffering from the fallout. On July 10, Thai Foreign Minister Noppadon Pattama stepped down after the Constitutional Court ruled that he had acted illegally in signing an agreement supporting Cambodias bid to have Preah Vihear temple listed as a World Heritage Site without the permission of parliament. His move had been approved by Samaks cabinet, which the court also decided had violated the Thai Constitution in acting without parliamentary consent, a verdict that observers said could lead to a major cabinet reshuffle. In his emotional resignation speech, Noppadon maintained he had acted in good faith in signing the agreement with Cambodia. "I insist I have done nothing wrong. I have not sold the country out. Những netbook đình đám nhất Việt Nam

Trào lưu sử dụng máy tính xách tay mini giá rẻ (netbook) đang nổi lên tại Việt Nam khi các hãng sản xuất lớn nhỏ đua nhau đưa những dòng sản phẩm ưu tú nhất của mình vào thị trường.

Sau khi Asus chính thức tung ra thị trường Việt Nam dòng máy tính xách tay mini Eee PC 701 vào giữa tháng 5 và được khách hàng đón nhận một cách nồng nhiệt, giờ đây các hãng sản xuất netbook đang xem Việt Nam như một thị trường đầy tiềm năng đối với mặt hàng này. Thay vì phải đi sau thế giới đến gần nửa năm như trường hợp của Eee PC 701 (ra mắt từ cuối năm 2007 nhưng giữa năm 2008 mới có mặt ở trong nước), giờ đây thị trường Việt Nam chỉ cần 1-2 tháng để nhập về những mẫu netbook mới nhất, “hot” nhất thế giới.

Sau đây là những chiếc netbook đang được cả thế giới chú ý nhưng đã kịp đánh dấu sự hiện diện tại thị trường trong nước.

1. Asus Eee PC 901/1000

Mới ra mắt chính thức tại Hội chợ triển lãm Computex Đài Loan 2008 (diễn ra đầu tháng 6), Eee PC 901 và 1000 đã được Asus lên kế hoạch mang đến thị trường Việt Nam vào giữa tháng 7 này trong khuôn khổ Hội chợ triển lãm toàn cảnh CNTT - Điện tử Việt Nam 2008.

Trong khi Eee PC 901 có màn hình 8,9 inch, thì model mang mã hiệu 1000 được Asus trang bị cho màn hình 10 inch. Cả hai đều được tích hợp vi xử lý Atom của Intel, bo mạch chủ của Asus và công nghệ lưu trữ SSD, cho phép máy khởi động chỉ trong vòng 15 giây. Để khắc phục nhược điểm về khả năng lưu trữ, Asus đã cung cấp cho những mẫu Eee PC mới này một không gian lưu trữ trên web có dung lượng 20 GB, cho phép tải tối đa 5 GB dữ liệu mỗi ngày. Ngoài ra, Eee PC 901 và 1000 còn hỗ trợ kết nối Bluetooth và Wi-Fi 802.11n.

Giá bán dự kiến của Eee PC 901 và 1000 tại Việt Nam lần lượt là 599 và 699 USD. Ra mắt cùng thời điểm với hai mẫu máy này là chiếc Eee PC 900, cũng có màn hình 8,9 inch nhưng không được trang bị chip Intel Atom, giá 499 USD.

2. Acer Aspire One

Những chiếc Aspire One đầu tiên đã được Acer bán ra tại Việt Nam từ cuối tháng 6, trong khi những thị trường lớn trên thế giới như châu Âu, Mỹ vẫn chưa biết đến lúc nào mới được đón nhận chiếc laptop mini này.

Acer Aspire One được trang bị màn hình 8,9 inch, nặng chưa tới 1 kg, có hai phiên bản cài hệ điều hành Windows XP Home và Linpus Linux Lite, được tích hợp sẵn nhiều phần mềm có bản quyền. Ngoài bộ vi xử lý Intel Atom dành riêng cho các sản phẩm Internet di động, dòng laptop mini này còn sở hữu bộ nhớ RAM tối đa 1 GB, ổ SSD 8 GB hoặc ổ cứng 80 GB, đầu đọc thẻ nhớ 5-trong-1 và hỗ trợ chuẩn Wi-Fi 802.11b/g. Cuối năm nay, Acer sẽ ra mắt những phiên bản hỗ trợ công nghệ Wimax và 3G.

Ngoài hai màu vỏ hiện tại là xanh và trắng, Aspire One sẽ có thêm các lựa chọn màu nâu và hồng sau mùa hè này. Giá bán hiện tại của sản phẩm tại Việt Nam là 469 USD (chưa VAT).

3. HP Mini-Note 2133

Được công ty bán lẻ FPT đưa vào Việt Nam qua hệ thống [IN] Store chỉ hơn một tháng sau khi ra mắt chính thức trên thị trường thế giới, HP Mini-Note 2133 đang được bán với giá từ 550 đến 750 USD, tùy cấu hình.

Điểm ưu việt nhất của Mini-Note 2133 so với các dòng laptop mini đang có mặt trên thị trường chính là bàn phím của máy có kích cỡ như bàn phím laptop thông thường, mang đến cho người dùng cảm giác thoải mái khi sử dụng. Bên cạnh đó, màn hình 8,9 inch có khả năng chống xước của chiếc máy này cũng có độ phân giải lên tới 1.280 x 768 pixel. Mini-Note 2133 được HP trang bị cho bộ vi xử lý VIA C7-M ULV 1,2 GHz, bộ nhớ RAM 1 GB và cài sẵn hệ điều hành Windows Vista Home Basic.

4. CMS ICBook

Được công ty máy tính CMS ra mắt từ cuối tháng 3, nhưng phải đến tháng 7 này, ICBook với màn hình 9 inch mới được chính thức tung ra thị trường. Tuy mang thương hiệu CMS, nhưng thực chất đây chính là sản phẩm của Intel, và nhờ có nó, cái tên netbook mới được khai sinh. Ở một số thị trường khác, ICBook còn có tên là 2goPC.

Chiếc laptop mini này được tích hợp bộ vi xử lý Atom của Intel. Cùng với đó là ổ cứng dung lượng 30 GB, bộ nhớ RAM 512 MB, thiết bị truy cập mạng không dây wireless và thời lượng sử dụng pin tối đa 4 giờ đồng hồ. Máy cũng được cung cấp kèm theo các phần mềm Windows có bản quyền của Microsoft.

Giá chào bán của sản phẩm này tại thị trường Việt Nam là khoảng 370 USD.

5. Astone UMPC

Không được chú ý nhiều như những dòng máy kể trên, nhưng Astone UMPC được ví như một làn gió mới trên thị trường laptop mini Việt Nam, khi sở hữu màn hình 7 inch có tính năng điều khiển cảm ứng và được thiết kế theo một phong cách khá độc đáo.

Màn hình của Astone UMPC nằm lệch hẳn về bên trái, nhường diện tích bên phải cho một webcam 1,3 Megapixel và một module dùng cho các tính năng thoại VoIP, máy tính. Máy được trang bị bộ vi xử lý Via C7-M 1,2 GHz, RAM 1 GB, ổ cứng 30 GB, card đồ họa 64 MB, hỗ trợ chuẩn kết nối Wi-Fi 802.11b/g. Ngoài ra, Astone UMPC còn được tích hợp đầu đọc thẻ, cổng DVI, kết nối Bluetooth và được cài sẵn hệ điều hành Windows XP.

Giá bán hiện tại của chiếc máy này là 565 USD.
